Another journey-related piece.
This time from a fictional Blood Tree Lane to a distant folly on a hill.
Part of my childhood was spent living next to two follies. One was a mysterious old military structure, the other an elegant tower that could just be seen above the tree line near Faringdon, Oxordshire.
The sweeping landscape winds its way to the folly then past it to a hint of blue sea in the far distance.
One of my favourite aspects of the painting is the smoky hazy trees on the left mid-ground. I adore the way they just melt away into the atmospheric mist. Oils let you create some wonderful smoky blends.
Pigment:
Payne’s Grey, Yellow ochre, Titanium White, French Ultramarine, Sap Green, Magenta, Alizarin Crimson, Burnt Sienna, Liquin, big brushes, and a small scratching stick!
Material:
Painted on triple gesso 3/4 inch plywood I rescued from some staging. 29.5 x 25 inches.
Hanging:
To hang I have attached screws and super-strong coated wire, but this could easily be removed and a frame used if preferred.

This artwork was created by me. It is signed and comes with a certificate of authenticity that is also signed, dated, and includes my thumbprint. You’ll know it’s real when you receive it because you will be able to see up close all the brush strokes I made creating it. I am proud of this piece of work and want to be sure you know it is the real thing.
